I've worked with the Canadian thread company, Wonderfil, to design 20 colors of their fabulous 12wt cotton thread, Spagetti. This is the nicest 12wt cotton on the market because it is so smooth. It's double-gassed and tightly twisted so machines love it. It's great for machine or hand quilting, machine or hand applique, redwork, wool applique, pick stitching fine garments, and many other applications.
I use it for quilting bold lines, for stitching over piping, and for embellishing prairie points. (90/14 or 100/16 topstitch machine needle with regular 50 or 60wt cotton thread in bobbin or size 8 between hand sewing needle)

There are many uses for this fine thread. It's great for my Piping Hot Curves technique to stitch in the ditch! It's also wonderful for invisible hand or machine applique, quilting in the ditch (wall quilts), and free motion quilting. Free motion quilters enjoy this thread for many reasons one of which is that the contures of quilting show, but the quilt does not get "thready". I use this thread where most quilters use invisible.
Best used with 60/8 Microtex sharp needle and 50 or 60 wt cotton in bobbin.
